veggie delight

from nowhere we have a flourishing collection of bizarrly dressed vegetables sitting in our kitchen on the extractor fan. king carrot (crown wearing, spliff smoking, afro dude) was the original. he’s now shrivelled from the glorious state you see below into a gnarly tiny little brown thing, costume still intact.

our ghoulish, tumourus gourd, spindly armed parsnip, and mango man are yet to be photographed.

and it seems we’re not the only ones enjoying the versatility of vegetables. Carl Kleiner’s vegetable concotions are amazing, and here are a few of my favourites. (the last one has to be the best, especially with the name Mr Shy).

Museum of Broken Relationships

This is genius…. an ex-couple who set up a museum in Zagreb to house items after a break up that cant quite be abandoned or kept. My favourite has to be a French identity card, alongside which a Slovenian has written “The only thing left of a great love was citizenship”.

The Secret of Kells

I saw The Secret of Kells for free at the Cube- a great independent cinema in Bristol.

The intricate celtic themed animations of the film are captivating and magical.  As Brendan wonders into the forbidden forest you know the style of animation will be perfectly suited to create an other wordly forest scene-from its rushing beauty to the geuinly terrifying. Funny, original, and delicately beautiful too.
